Cobol developers (both CICS and batch)

Our client is seeking COBOL resources:

The System

Business-critical core system.
Legacy mainframe-based system, primarily in COBOL (both CICS and batch), PL/I and IDEAL, DB2, running on IBM Mainframe (z17) with z/OS 3.2.

Assignment

Engage full-time (as part of a larger team) to provide support in AO/AM/AD (application operations, application management and new application development).

Number of resources

Depends on competence – 3–5 resources may be relevant if the right individuals are found

Length of engagement

Minimum 1–2 years. Longer engagements may also be relevant. Start date is as soon as practically possible.

Location

Oslo (primarily) and Bergen

Competency requirements

Must have:

• Extensive experience with COBOL development on mainframe (candidates with both batch and CICS experience are needed, but this does not need to be the same individual)
• Experience with SQL (and preferably DB2)

• Must be Norwegian- or Danish-speaking. The resources will be working with and making changes to legacy code where absolutely everything is in Norwegian and Danish (variable names, comments, screen layouts, etc.).
• Proven experience in reading and interpreting unfamiliar COBOL programs

Advantageous:

• Experience with PL/I and/or IDEAL
• Knowledge of JCL and REXX scripting
• Knowledge of CA Scheduler and/or RACF
• Actuarial competence (or experience of having worked alongside actuaries)
