AI-first Tech Lead

We are looking for a tech lead who can take the company from promising prototypes to a scalable platform, and build the team to make it happen. You will be the technical engine in the most experimental and fastest-moving part of the company.

Project description

A small team builds the business functionality. They have no developer background and create prototypes with AI. They take solutions 60–70% of the way: the logic works and customers are satisfied. Your job is the final 30%: architecture, security, scaling, database and deployment, so that it holds up in production. You challenge them on complexity and risk, and build the processes that allow the team to deliver quickly without delivering AI slop.

You work closely with the commercial and technical team, a developer supporting the prototype team, and a development environment in Eastern Europe that maintains the traditional products.

Team

You work closely with the commercial and technical team, a developer supporting the prototype team, and a development environment of 15–20 people in Ukraine that maintains the traditional products.

Responsibilities

• Take prototypes from the prototype team to production-ready, scalable solutions
• Own the architecture: servers, database, deployment, scaling and security
• Establish frameworks and processes for AI-driven development and quality assurance (QA)
• Determine what can be vibe-coded, and what is business-critical and requires stricter control
• Recruit, interview and build out the team
• Keep yourself and the team at the forefront of AI tools and ways of working

Requirements

Must have:

• Solid technical background as a developer
• Experience with architecture and operation of production systems
• AI-first: daily use of AI tools
• Precise and systematic approach to AI

Nice to have:

• Java
• React
• Experience with management or building teams
• Experience with QA and testing of AI-generated code
• Familiarity with logistics, e-commerce or platform products
• Claude Code

• Drive and genuine commitment; you are happy to put in an extra evening to get something finished
• Clear and confident leader who takes charge and maintains control
• Comfortable working with people who code with AI without a developer background, and sees the opportunities in that
• Strong at dialogue with commercial colleagues and customers

Selling points

Also relevant: The client is open to younger, highly talented profiles, for example recent graduates with a bachelor's or master's degree who build interesting things in their spare time and are quick with AI. Such profiles may be brought into the team even if they do not fill the tech lead role.
